IRDAI has introduced a major reform aimed at improving accountability in the insurance sector. Starting January 2027, every insurance policy will be tagged to the agent or intermediary who sold it, making it easier to track responsibility and curb mis-selling practices. The regulator has also approved perpetual registrations for intermediaries, reducing administrative hurdles while strengthening oversight. The move is expected to enhance transparency, improve customer trust, and encourage more responsible selling practices across the insurance industry.

Indian markets witnessed sharp stock-specific reactions as companies announced their Q1 FY27 results. Pharma player @SyngeneIntl plunged 9% to a 52-week low after reporting a ₹9 crore loss versus a profit last year. Solar major @waareegroup Energies slipped 6% as investors remained unimpressed despite steady growth prospects.
On the positive side, @MtarLtd surged 5% after delivering a remarkable 364% jump in quarterly profit. @Redington hit a record high, rallying 18% on the back of strong earnings and robust revenue growth.
Auto stocks remained in focus as @SmlMahindra zoomed 41% in just two sessions after approving the acquisition of Mahindra Truck and Bus Division. Parent company @mahindra_ltd also recovered strongly, ending higher after posting healthy profit and revenue growth.
Meanwhile, @Thangamayilltd hit its lower circuit for a second consecutive day amid concerns over weaker gold jewellery volumes. @asianpaints fell despite a 40% rise in profit, indicating that investor expectations were even higher. @Adaniports also remained under pressure after its quarterly numbers, despite brokerages maintaining positive long-term views.
The earnings season highlights a key market trend: strong results alone are not enough—stocks are being rewarded or punished based on how they stack up against expectations.

SEBI has agreed in principle to settle the long-running co-location and dark fibre cases involving National Stock Exchange for a total payment of ₹1,491.21 crore. The market regulator has issued a demand letter, with ₹1,223.56 crore linked to the co-location case and ₹267.65 crore related to the dark fibre matter.
The cases, under scrutiny for several years, centered on allegations that certain brokers received preferential access to NSE's trading infrastructure and connectivity, potentially giving them an unfair trading advantage. The settlement is expected to remove one of the biggest regulatory hurdles facing NSE.
The development is particularly significant as it clears a major overhang ahead of NSE's much-anticipated IPO, for which the exchange has already filed draft offer documents and begun investor outreach.

India's recent hike in gold import duty to 15% is having unintended consequences, according to the World Gold Council (WGC). The higher tariff, combined with 3% GST, has widened the price gap between legal and illegal channels, making gold smuggling more profitable and boosting grey-market activity. Organized jewellers, refiners, and legitimate importers are feeling the pressure as unofficial imports gain ground.
