Updating a MongoDB document by _id alone can silently lose edits.

Add a version check to the same atomic write:

filter: { _id, version: expected }
update: { $set: changes, $inc: { version: 1 } }

No match? Return 409. Don’t overwrite a newer version.

Use one AbortSignal for the response lifetime + route deadline, then pass it through every service boundary.

Always get a proper signed off document before starting any project.
