The Minority Bloc walked out in protest. The Majority Bloc did not show up.

There is a difference.

A protest challenges perceived abuses of power. Repeated absence from plenary sessions abandons the constitutional duty to legislate.

Thank you to the 11-member Minority Bloc for showing up today and demonstrating respect for the institution and the Filipino people. Regardless of political affiliation, attendance and participation in Senate proceedings are the minimum expectations of public service.

If the Majority Bloc led by SP Alan Cayetano continues to deny the Senate a quorum, it is not defending the institution — it is weakening it.

This is in no way an indictment of the accused senator but I would like to remind our lawmakers…
