Can you tell us why there was no live-stream for the public (during a pandemic) and why Ontarians from across the province were not allowed to speak to the committee re #rankedballots? Do you support your govt’s #localchoice ban?
#ONpoli@meslin
Action Alert 2 ➸ Contact your Ontario MPP! Remember, they don't need to actually support ranked ballots. They just need to believe that local elected councils should have Local Choice, and that ranked ballots shouldn't be BANNED. Find yer MPP here: https://t.co/onlfvxxchm
#ldnont is the coolest city in Canada. First municipality to ditch First-Past-the-Post, and now the first city to officially fight back against the provincial government's attack on local democracy. https://t.co/G62bca1jLC
The second response was from @OntarioGreens leader @MikeSchreiner! Thanks Mike for being a democracy champion! You've been with us every step of the way.

The first Ontario party leader to respond to my question was @ontario_liberal leader @StevenDelDuca. It's great to see the Libs standing up for local choice and local democracy! Thnx Steve. 💥

URGENT: Doug Ford just announced plans to BAN ranked ballots in Ontario. London would be forced to switch back to First-Past-the-Post and the results of two referendums (Kingston+Cambridge) would be overturned. Join us on Monday to learn why this matters: https://t.co/6AV1Nd24La
4. Why is this so urgent, today? Because Doug Ford's government has just announced, minutes ago, that they're planning to force London to switch back to First Past the Post and ban all Ontario's 444 cities from switching to a more democratic voting system.

3. I'll be joined by an INCREDIBLE line-up of voices from London, including the City Clerk, the city's first female Black councillor, two deputy mayors, the President of @ULLdn and the MPP who started it all!
1. This is the most important thread I've written in years. Please RT. Two years ago, London City Council became the first government in Canada to ditch First-Past-the-Post. The results were astounding. Take a moment to watch this short video:

With 2 by-elections coming up & speculations of a snap provincial election.
Does your vote really count? Join @RyanGurcharn & Alan Kan @theKantastic @ 7pm as they dive into ranked ballots w/Author @meslin and whether school trustees should be elected w/PDSB Trustee @NokhaDakroub
4/4 It's fascinating to see how Ontario's medium-sized cities (London, Kingston, Cambridge) are taking a lead on this, while our largest cities languish in risk-averse stagnation. Mid-size cities like #BurlON are driving innovation in Ontario! #Onpoli https://t.co/4wCPp851iY
1/4 Great to see @cityburlington councillors looking at Ranked Ballots today, as an option for their next local election! See agenda item 4.4: https://t.co/KOFHh0lyPH
Hey #Massachusetts. Exciting that ranked-choice voting will be on our ballot this Nov. More choices (very American). More incentive not to campaign negatively. More non-traditional candidates encouraged to run (removes fear of being a spoiler). More democracy!
