@MichaelClydeH@MagneticNorse There is a significant subset of the population that will cause an accident just to be able to say 'I was right'. It's an ego thing.
@9mmsmg There is something about gore that goes over your head at a young age. Many of us watched these videos as kids. I personally can't watch them anymore. Something about knowing pain grants you the superpower of empathy, which is lacking in the immature mind and soul.
@Noahpinion We are in Taiwan and while we rarely lock the door, I'm not sure how normal that is. Crime here is just so low that you can afford to be a little bit off-guard.
@sighaboutlife@Noahpinion There are literally thousands of videos of the Beirut explosion, so it's hard to pinpoint which one is the most impressive. The Tianjin explosion has one video that is impressive, which is the one taken by the foreigners in the high-rise apartment.
@MilenaAmit@nickimoraa I recently took six flights in which seat selection was a premium service. There weren't three seats or even two together on some flights. But the desk staff at the airport managed to assign us three seats together for all flights.
The problem is this is a mother fucking game.
@waldmenschen I visited Japan before the tourist explosion and it was very surreal--barely any foreigners, even in Tokyo. Like Lost in Translation. I live much closer now but purposely avoid going back because I know that it's not the same and it'd somehow lessen the original experience.
@SandyofCthulhu Sometimes it's just like that. We went to a corporate Mexican place a few years ago and all three orders came out wrong. We sent every single meal back and just left without eating. It's uncomfortable and annoying for everyone when the people cooking the food can't do it right.
@dorzacht@EricRichards22 Being able to visualize the topo map in 3D by looking at it helps and is fun but isn't really important for interpretation of the data. You can just look at the numbers and space between lines and still comprehend its meaning.
Praying for all the couples who ever got fooled into thinking that the 'mile high club' was ever a serious idea.
Have you ever smelled an airplane bathroom? Half of the time the floor and walls are sticky. It's one step from a porta john.
Is that really how you like it?
@ColoRocko@Cr7Godbrand Yeah but that's not what's happening to the person in the story. I'm the same. I have had sex with my wife, where she actually wanted it, once in the past three years. Zero kissing during that same time. It's a divorceable offense for a romantic partner to check out like that.
@wrathofgnon@Babygravy9 This shit happens constantly. There are many cases out of Africa where some real smart guys have stolen and cracked open power transformers and then drained and sold the oil.
@BestMovieMom I was too young to know about Reeves his accident. I learned about him through Oprah. It was obvious to me, even at seven, that he was interested in spinal research and stem cells because of what had happened to him. I'm sure he was fine but this interest wasn't unconditional.
@mahasr199 I have thought about repatriating but, frankly, Taiwan has some very good things going for it. The low wages are a systematic quirk but ultimately not as bad as they seem. Things like 2% mortgage rates and meals that cost $3 make the COL very low.
@mahasr199 I live in Taiwan. Despite some workers earning less, the average quality of life here is arguably higher than what you would find in much of the US. Minimum wage here is also enough to pay rent and eat decently.
