We hope that you enjoy looking into our grade 1&2 classrooms. Please join us on our learning journey and the adventures we experience at Elbow Park School.
A few shots from our visit to Fort Calgary earlier this month.
Students learned about the significance of the location where the Elbow and the Bow meet, the history of Calgary and about the people who have called Calgary home over the years.

Winter is coming....
During Science lessons we have been looking at how humans and animals prepare for the change in seasons. As some animals grow thicker coats, we have been zipping up ours.

We had a lovely walk in Elbow Park on the last day of Summer. Students found a sit spot and used their senses to record what they could feel, hear, see and smell. Thank you to our parent helpers who supported the safe journey.

How do you know when you belong in a group or community?
● "I've been here in school for a bunch of days and years."
● "You are comfortable."
● "When you see the coach or or teacher and they talk to you."
● "People know your name."
● "You know other people there."
Thoughts?
We went exploring for natural patterns and made some of our own. Can you make some patterns in your backyard?
"It has to repeat 3 times."
"Some patterns can grow!"

The importance of adding a keel to a sail boat was explored today. Many alterations and redesigning took place to reach success. #science#boats#keel@ElbowParkSchool
Verbal story telling is a great way to remove reading and writing barriers. The students came up with a checklist of what makes a good story and have used it as a guide in the creation and retelling of their own stories. @ElbowParkSchool
