China is expanding a flight-test facility in its western desert to fast track the development of its next-generation military aircraft as Beijing and Washington compete for air-power dominance.

Satellite imagery of the Lop Nur facility in Xinjiang shows the construction of four large hangars, new taxiways, a circular pad believed to be used for engine testing or aircraft turnaround, and possible fuel-storage infrastructure, according to the South China Morning Post.

In the early hours of Wednesday, 2nd
September 2026, this exquisite and highly valuable, 2.25-foot-tall rare emerald murti of Sri Murugan was stolen from the Sri Maragadha Bala Dhandayuthapani Murugan Temple. The temple, a prominent hilltop shrine popularly known as Nadu Palani, is located in Perunkarunai village near Madurantakam in the Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu.

The rare green-colored murti, carved entirely out of emerald, was installed at the temple in 2008 by the Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamigal Trust of Mysuru. It is considered culturally priceless and financially estimated to be worth several crores of rupees. Silver articles and brass lamps were also reported missing.
