A surprising investigation has revealed that traces of cocaine are widespread on public baby changing tables across the UK.

Journalists from Real Radio North West tested over 100 public baby changing stations in the North West of England and found that 92% tested positive for cocaine residue. The samples were collected from high-traffic locations including shopping centers, supermarkets, department stores, police stations, courts, and even churches.

While the discovery is alarming, experts explain that these are typically microscopic traces rather than evidence of direct drug use on the tables. Similar to how banknotes often carry small amounts of cocaine, the contamination likely spreads through contact with contaminated hands, clothing, or bags.

The findings highlight the importance of good hygiene practices. Health professionals recommend that parents always wipe down public changing tables thoroughly with disinfectant wipes or use a clean portable changing mat to protect their infants from both bacterial germs and potential drug residues.
