Accidentally stumbled upon this little medieval laneway today in the heart of #Wexford Town. It's known as Keyser's Lane; deriving from Old Norse meaning ‘lane to the quays’. Many of the old Norse towns of Ireland contain either a street/lane/hill with the word 'Keyser' in it.

St. Moling's Holy Well is located in the historic ecclesiastical village of St. Mullins, #Carlow. The well is first referenced in the year 1348; in those days, thousands would flock to the well to wash away their sins and seek protection from the black plague.

Engine from a Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf Fw 200 "Condor" that crash-landed on Mount Brandon (Cnoc Bréanainn) Co. #Kerry in 1940. This was the first known #German aircrew to land in Ireland during World War II. All six crew members survived the crash.

From Irish roots in the west of Ireland 🇮🇪, Bernardo O’Higgins rose to become a central figure in Chile’s struggle for independence 🇨🇱.

He helped turn the tide against Spanish rule in 1818 and went on to serve as the country’s first head of state.
