Life is kaleidoscopic.
At first, it looks random.
With focus you see patterns.
A dazzling infinity, colorful chaos, but truthfully it’s always beautiful.
One studied the game from the outside.
The other entered the game with his hands dirty.
And in the real world, movement often beats intelligence that never risks itself.
People who spend long periods of time at home and slowly lose the desire to go outside often think they're just resting. But psychologically, many of them are experiencing something called mental rumination. It's a state where the brain starts slowing down while the number of thoughts inside keeps increasing and the motivation to do anything slowly disappears. The mind gets stuck in the past, worries about the future and burns itself out. This isn't laziness, it's a nervous system stuck in survival mode. And the longer it lasts, the more distant normal life begins to feel. And the difficult part is that you usually can't escape it through one massive burst of motivation. And sometimes, recovery starts with just one small step.
What you do in private always shows in public. Reading shows in conversations. Your workouts show in your physique. Your diet shows in your energy. Your discipline shows in your confidence. Your focus shows in your results. You are what you cultivate when no one is watching.
I’ll be 40 next year, this is my advice for someone in their 20s.
Don’t be afraid to do things you will regret. Life will be full of regret. Whether you do good or bad, regrets will be a part of your journey.
The point is to keep on moving.
It takes everyone a different amount of time to realize you’re not the exception. You’re the rule. And when you follow it, you become the exception.
Do so much volume it would be unreasonable for you to fail.
“To be successful at anything, you don’t have to be special. You just have to be what most people aren’t: consistent, determined and willing to work for it. No shortcuts.”
— Tom Brady
Most people think resilience means never breaking. It does not. Resilience is how quickly you return to baseline after you break. Everyone falls. High performers just reset faster.
@samuraipips358 Even with a proven strategy, you'll have losing periods where you doubt whether it still works. You have to push through those periods and believe in it, rather than assume you need a new strategy.
My advice to anyone starting out:
Develop a very strong opinion about yourself.
Know exactly who you are & who you are not.
If you don't, someone else will try to tell you who you are, and you might just start believing them.
