Not exactly the same, but this reminded me of the time an elected council official visited my husband's school and called him "a fool that looks like the Taliban" in a whole staff meeting. Husband was the deputy head. Official is no longer allowed in school. It was in the papers!
@DeputyGrocott Collected eldest who has come home from uni. Parents coming on Wednesday (from Australia). We don't break up until Thursday. I'm not sure I'll make it.
@TsuiAllen@ed_objective Hope it's gone well! I am struggling to get my word count down. It's hard going from writing a master's thesis to writing a 1500 word assignment.
Just finished a run of 15 working days where we have had at least 1 (often 2) of the 4 teachers who work in my SEN unit off sick. I think we had supply 3 days and I worked an extra day today (my day off) so that all classes could be covered
When they translate your thesis title to English and it is even funnier than it was in Swedish. Why does the poop-sausage fly?
In other news, I just had my thesis uploaded and could apply for both my Special Education Diploma and Masters.
@amymayforrester Nice! I went to get my arm X-rayed a week ago and they didn't even ask me if I could be pregnant and make me wear a lead apron. I was tired (working 4 days with a suspected broken arm might do that) and perhaps not looking my best, but boy was I offended
@llewelyn20 We have Raspberry and liquorice (together in one) chocolates left AND we were snowed in (8 hours of digging to make a path through the snow from the cars to the road) and we still haven't eaten them. I have contemplated trying to just Nibble the outside.
@adamboxer1 I want my kids to understand the cultural context of the country they live in and the background they have. I guess it's a serial migrant thing to do, to hold on to customs/cultural practices that would be less important to you if you lived in that culture.
@adamboxer1 We in fact have 2 cultural Xmases. Julafton (Swedish Christmas) on the 24th where we watch Donald Duck & have a visit from Jultomten, along with eating too much, and then English Xmas on the 25th, with too much turkey & presents.
Thinking about adding in Australian Xmas in July.
@MBDscience One of the radiators in my living room is not working. It's 14 degrees in there and I am going straight to bed once I get home with my daughter who is out at scouts in minus 7!
I have been back at work for a week now, after our half-term holiday (which was inset mon-wed and holiday Thursday and Friday). I have slept on the sofa before 8 every day (often before 6pm).
