@womensrldotcom Great tribute in that thread there Richard, The RL community has lost a true character, someone who will be remembered fondly by so many for a very long time
Some very sad news.
Two-time Challenge Cup winning coach John Kear has passed away at the age of 71.
Kear made over 100 appearances for Castleford and coached West Yorkshire sides Wakefield, Batley and Bradford.
Our thoughts are with John's family and friends.
@ActualNames1 Fartown is an area of Huddersfield,
Supposedly in the old days it was known as Furtown, and another area is known as "Edgerton" which came from "Edge of town", you can tell they didn't give much thought to the names
@DavidFl32814060 The games in a mess, Fev didnt even start the season, Halifax allowed to start again mid season, Crusaders similar situation.
Probably be another club go pop before the season is over. God knows what the future is here
Proper middle aged post here, Denby have gone bust, all this was just over ยฃ200. Not sure what the full value would be but reckon between ยฃ800 and ยฃ1000
@rugbyleaguelady Used to book hotels, trains and match tickets months in advance.
Besides when Halifax played in the 1895 final, I've not been for about 15 years or more. And even then we only went in at half time of the CC match
I remember when the challenge cup weekend was a big thing. Everyone you knew was in London, could walk into any pub down there Friday night and see a face you recognised.
@theterriersfan@KevinNagleMLS@ThatTownFan Very hard to do. Have to have a percentage of safe standing for away fans if you do for home fans.
Theres also the issue if, in a cup game a certain amount of seats have to be made available to away fans. Like the man city game last season
@Steve_Bee21 Hated that shirt for years, always thought it was so basic and lacked any design/imagination
But now i'm older, agree it is a classic.
And of course the Panasonic REAL thing is long forgotten now to most!
