@yungkitty404 I remember i stopped playing like 2 hours in after this, decided to visit some sidequest dungeon and ended up on a boss sequence i think was unbeatable with my current team levels, dropped out of laziness instead of just backtracking back to the ship and continue on.
I think the best way to visualize it is that that neurotic aspect that was amplified was the incessant need to generally "justify" myself to an imagined Other(the heavily curated algorithm served "feed" of tweets and their people and emergent community that comes from that)
Not gonna speak for everyone, but personally going years inmersed in what i would call a "pseudo digital public sphere" reverberated alot of the worst neurotic aspects of myself.

zookeeper roommate texts asking if it’s ok for her to bring the massive seal by the apartment for a few hours. he smells like fish and is a slob so i say try to say no big seal but my phone autocorrects to no big deal. don’t notice until it’s too late. the fucking seal is coming.
