@nynjpaweather @trhurls At least in Wilmington DE on one of the days the temp/DP at peak heat was 89/77. Our dewpoints do tend to be slightly higher than the rest of the area, but even if everywhere else was 73-74, that’s still rather stifling.

@dmorris9661 Global warming is making me skeptical of analogs that go back more than a decade. Super El Ninos typically meant most of the rest of the Pacific was cooler than average, but not anymore.

@GayLou1953 @pointsnfigures1 @ChrisMartzWX As well as several scientific articles. Plus it’s just common sense honestly. Yeah if you clear cut log you remove the fuel temporarily, but it’s gonna grow back pretty fast.

@pointsnfigures1 @ChrisMartzWX @GayLou1953 Logging actually just makes it worse. Eliminating the canopy allows the forest floor to heat up and dry out. Small trees and shrubs will grow back quickly and densely. In a hot dry period, logged areas become tinderboxes.

Controlled burns are the only way.

And he is not always correct. I remember during January 2025 he posted something suggesting February would be snowy in the east. The month was a dud.

@rushtropicalwx On the one hand, NYNJPA weather probably shouldn’t have shared that map if it doesn’t mean anything. He says there are many other factors he’s considering, but he’s only elaborated to an extent. I guess he’s being cagey since he offers a premium service for this analysis.

@NWS_MountHolly Yep, barely anything yesterday in north Wilmington DE (around a quarter inch today). A storm right at the PA border just barely missed us. We did get over 2 inches during the prior system though, so can’t complain too much.

@mikestanislaw The only way we get a lasting peace deal is if we take definitive action against Israel. For example, cutting off all support until they end their assault on Lebanon. Iran might accept that, even if Israel goes rogue and continues bombing Lebanon anyway.

@mikestanislaw Israel is never gonna stop bombing Lebanon. Why would they? Israel wants this war. They’ve been trying to get us embroiled for decades. Seeing as they clearly want to annex Lebanon anyway, blowing up our peace deal is a very convenient side effect.

@capitalweather This reminds me of 2023. Extremely dry May-June before the incoming El Niño. Philly area gets the big rains first, while DC area has to wait until July for anything serious. That’s how it played out in 2023 too. Hopefully Monday’s system bucks this idea.

@nynjpaweather Why? Because of the drought? We got 2-3 inches of rain last Sunday, drought didn’t prevent that. And it was a reasonably large aerial swath of good rains too.
