Wieso wird es eigentlich nicht zur Pflicht, dass Parkplätze vor Lebensmittelgeschäften mit Solar überdacht werden müssen? In anderen Ländern ist das gang und gäbe und bringt nur Vorteile mit sich:

- Deutlich besser, als die Landschaft mit Solarparks zu vermiesen
- Deutlicher Beitrag zur „Energiewende“
- Schatten = im Sommer kühlere Autos
- Günstigere Preise für E-Auto-Ladesäulen

Keine Ahnung, wieso Deutschland das nicht auf die Reihe bekommt.

I was once in the Istanbul metro. I noticed that the many tv screens in the metro are running 24/7 ads for the now imprisoned mayor and his ‘achievements’. It was the same 3 activities put on repeat: some playground for kids, some discounted restaurants and another ‘achievement’ of this sort.

Then I used Marmaray which is run by the ministry of transportation in Erdogan’s cabinet. Far less screens. Far less ads. Few ads for the major infrastructure projects the ministry had run but most of the screen time was dedicated for general guidelines about health, security and some random entertainment news!

There I understood the real problem of the conservatives of Turkey. Astonishingly, even after 20 years in power, they are still lagging behind in PR and telling their story. This issue is one of the markers of most Islamist and conservatives movements in the Muslim world but the other movements simply excuse their failure at communications by saying ‘we don’t have power’. Well, in the case of Turkish conservatives they have been in power for over 20 years and have had solid power for the last decade. And yet, a few tv channels and some foreign backed social media can shape the narrative around events far better than the ruling coalition.

The current media landscape and ‘narrative war’ in Turkey doesn’t reflect the huge progress conservatives in Turkey have achieved in terms of intellectual and cultural evolution. They are far better and stronger than what is shown. But they are not good at telling their stories.

Erdogan keeps cozying up to Trump while still deepening ties with China, making sure he's covering himself from all angles.

It’s less “Iran 2.0” and more a regional power flex that makes almost everyone nervous at the same time.
