In yesterday’s debate in Parliament on education I tried to bring sense of reality explaining what’s happened to education spending since 2010 & why teachers were striking & marching outside not just for fair pay but also proper funding for schools. Solidarity to @NEUnion

Hi @thenewcons, you appear to be using one of my posters as your header on Twitter without asking for permission to do this.
As a token of goodwill, I have made a map which you do have permission to use - how the country would vote in an election today, with your seats in bold.
We have been calling for serious talks for months. We have been told to wait for the recommendations of the "independent" pay review body. Teachers and leaders are still waiting. Stop treating the profession with contempt.
#PayUpRishi
Those “independent” review bodies again:
- appointed by Govt
- with a remit set by Govt
- with a pay limit set by Govt
- then ignored by Govt if they show any independence
A fig leaf, a smoke screen, exposed by our action.
Stop ignoring the crisis in our schools. #PayUpRishi
Can you imagine walking into a casino, where if you win…fantastic. If you lose, you get your stake back. That’s not how it works.
Rishi and Gillian gambled on the STRB, thinking it would be a low recommendation. They have even gone public to say they would abide by it.
Their gamble backfired and now they need to face it and pay up, instead of squirming.
No integrity whatsoever.
If the government does not accept the independent recommendation of a 6.5% teacher pay rise, it will ‘embolden teachers to vote for further strike action’, says @NEUnion leader @cyclingkev

Every @NEUnion member & every teacher needs to watch this. Don’t let this slippery truth twisting Government make you the victims of its latest outrageous con. Stand together & win TOGETHER the fair pay rise we all know you deserve
This compilation of what Education Secretary Gillian Keegan has said about independent pay review bodies will cause anger & outrage amongst teachers across the country
UK news shows need to step up & expose this latest outrageous Government CON against our public sector workers
Then #DoYourJobGill publish the STRB and if it is the ‘leaked’ 6.5% ensure it is fully funded so that every school can afford to pay it without making further cuts to education. You have one job…make sure there are enough teachers! #ValueEducation#ValueEducators
Quick video message:
When we met Gillian Keegan before Easter, she told us we shouldn’t ask for a pay rise because inflation was falling.
Today we see in the papers that she and Rishi Sunak say we shouldn’t ask for a pay rise because inflation is increasing!
