$AMC Haven't touched this since selling it in June 2021, has been one of the most violent retail trap -99.64% since then.
That said even if it has been ran like shit & mgmt is shady, it's been trading way too low. Possible return to the mean into more dilution? Or... π
Hereβs the truth.
Boomers grew up inside an economic system that still functioned correctly.
Millennials were dropped into one that was already rigged. From 1980 to now the dollar lost about 74% of its value while CPI climbed almost 3.8x. Housing went 6-9x. Wages only moved about 4.6x. Rent ran 5.3x. Tuition exploded 9-12x. Childcare 8x. New cars 6.7x. Weddings 6x. Healthcare premiums 17x and now cost roughly 800 work-hours a year.
Deductibles 10x. Medical CPI 4x. In the background the federal balance sheet went from around 32% debt-to-GDP to roughly 119%. Student loans went from about 3B to 1.7T, a 586x move.
Boomers never had to price this in. Their world was single income buys a house, college is cheap enough to pay in cash or with part-time work, healthcare eats about 5% of income, rent sits near 25%, and you do not enter your 20s already chained to a decade of interest payments.
Millennials live in the inverse. Every essential cost runs 2-3x faster than wages.
Every life milestone carries a monthly compounding burn rate. Wait to buy and you pay another year of rent, another year of premiums, another year of tuition interest, another year of inflated prices chewing through what little savings exist.
Boomers are not dumb and they are not evil. They simply lived in a version of America where the machine still worked so they never had to ask what was broken. Millennials are forced to ask that question then figure out how to SURVIVE. Older people donβt understand, not because of intelligence, but they were never forced into a corner. Fight or flight.
