According to GSC Game World founder Sergiy Grygorovych, Xbox paid more than the entire development cost of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl to secure the game as a timed console exclusive.

In a recent interview, Grygorovych said the studio knew Microsoft and Sony were competing heavily for exclusive games and that Microsoft was willing to invest.
