Just watched #Strictly2025 for first time this year. I’m appalled there’s no phone voting. Vast numbers of people are digitally excluded for some reason, especially many elderly people for whom Strictly is a TV highlight . Really thoughtless from @bbcstrictly

@Jayseaside Many replies not understanding that a) some people genuinely don’t spend time online and aren’t going to get broadband/a smartphone just to vote and b) just because some elderly people are silver surfers doesn’t mean all are. Excluded people yet again dismissed.

@miss_traceydav @Jayseaside More than you’d think. My Nan for one doesn’t have any form of internet at home, no computer and no smartphone. A quick online search suggests 2.8 million in the UK don’t have any form of internet at home and 4.5 million don’t access the internet at home.

You have just alienated a huge part of your audience by getting rid of the phone vote. I cannot imagine my elderly mother, & thousands like her, able to log on to register a vote on her favourite programme.
