We raise our hands against the abuse of child soldiers. They are robbed of their childhood - and of their future. Deeply traumatized, they struggle to find their place in society. 🇩🇪 is committed to protect the rights of children in armed conflicts at the 🇺🇳 & beyond. #RedHandDay
Children are particularly vulnerable to harm during armed conflict and must be protected.
At Geneva Call, we engage armed groups to ensure respect for the prohibition on recruiting and using children in armed conflict.
Let's end child recruitment together. #RedHandDay
Ali (name changed), 15, and his friends were threatened by armed groups in Haiti trying to recruit them.
He recounts his experience and how a UNICEF-supported space is helping him heal.
This #RedHandDay, watch and share his story.
For some children living in areas affected by armed conflict, war is not just about losing their childhood, but also about being used and/or recruited by armed actors.
These minors are victims.
They deserve protection, care, and sustained support to heal.
#RedHandDay
On #RedHandDay, we’re thinking of all children affected by conflict & crisis. 1 in 4 children worldwide lives in a conflict-affected country - conditions that drive child marriage.
Watch Maria’s story made in collaboration with @Refugees below.
#EndChildMarriage
On #RedHandDay, 🇵🇹 deplores use of child soldiers.
From Africa to Middle East, from forgotten conflicts to headline wars, children are still being forced to fight battles that are not theirs.
Nour, Joelle, Andriy, & thousands + children, belong in schools, not on battlefields.
#RedHandDay calls for urgent political action to end the recruitment and use of children by armed forces & armed groups.
@UN peacekeeping missions in #SouthSudan 🇸🇸, #CAR 🇨🇫& #DRC 🇨🇩 work towards their release and prevent their recruitment and use.
#InvestInPeace@childreninwar
On #RedHandDay, we raise our red hand for children in northern Mozambique.
Abduction and recruitment and use must stop.
We call for prevention, clear handover protocols for children, and full implementation of the Vancouver Principles.

The listing of perpetrators in the annexes of the SG's annual reports on #CAAC remains one of the most powerful tools to promote #accountability today. Listing & delisting must be credible & evidence-based without exception. https://t.co/kx4iZh5RRd
Today marks #RedHandDay. As we close #RaiseYourRed, our red hands are raised high to demand an end to the recruitment & use of children. Our hands are raised for protection, prevention & accountability. We commit to a better future for children in armed conflict.
#Accountability is essential for protecting children in armed conflict & ending recruitment & use and other grave violations of their rights. Holding perpetrators to account increases costs of noncompliance w/intl law, deters future violations & better protects children.
