Building a motorway junction brings more traffic onto the ring road, Green Belt development and with that....more cars! We say NO to increased congestion.
Junction 18a update:
A sure fire way to bring more traffic and pollution directly into the area. All villages suffer. Kingswood and surrounds suffer.
Those who benefit live further afield and simply use it as a rat run from the M4.
Use the £446,000,000 on something better.
@democrazypete @David_T_Builds David we don’t oppose homes for those in need. We do oppose using a road through the green belt to open planning permission there, when many other housing options exist. Eastern fringe already high pollution due to proximity to M4&A4174, that’s why the green belt is so important.
@CSkidmoreUK@LukeHall Labours’ petition is nonsensical, the traffic they’re worried about occurs with any location for 18a. Meanwhile Chris and Luke are much smarter. They’ve convinced their constituents that their new traffic would actually be good.
Highways England make the ultimate decision on junction 18a in 2022. The Western option is recommended by local council. A lot can happen in 4 years you know....
@milk2sugar5@MrMcCullo You are correct that anyone supporting the Western option has just added to support for 18a. Opinion could easily turn back one of the Eastern routes..... or.... no junction at all. That last option would upset you. Definitely the best thing for the area as a whole though.
@milk2sugar5@MrMcCullo To be honest with you Bananaman less then 0.5% of South Gloucestershire even bothered with responding to consultation. SGC and the DTF will be working off of a poll of less than half a %.
Rumour has it that some house prices are set to go up in the local area after 18a.
The ones with planning permission to become a service station that is.
Breaking News:
New service station including a KFC to be built in Lyde Green!!
as local resident unveils their scheme to cash in on junction 18a by securing planning to convert their home into the new facility for the area.
Residents divided as some prefer Subway.

@sglabour The Western routes do the same thing! 😂😆😆 the exact same traffic onto the A420. Yet you accept that? Your petition makes zero sense. We say no to 18a all together.
@CSkidmoreUK@mikewallis11@M418aNews@LukeHall @HighwaysEngland One thing remains the same with either option though.... more through traffic in the constituency of Kingswood. Open up the M4 flood gates and funnel the congestion directly in to your own voters.... congrats.
@nicolabeech Yet too dumb to notice that the Western option does the exact same thing to Church Road & Two Mile Hill.
If Bristol Labour read the studies and look at a map some time, it will become obvious that the only way to protect those roads is opposing 18a all together.

@M418aNews The whole area is precious, Pucklechurch...Lyde Green....Siston...Emerson’s Green.
Nobody wants it on their doorstep but seemingly a lot of people in these places happy to plonk it on their neighbours. Which does sound a bit nimby.
Real protection of the area is no 18a at all.
@MrMcCullo@LukeHall@CSkidmoreUK We can almost see some of Luke’s take on this, given he has Yate to think about in his constituency. It could be a through road for them. It’s the Kingswood constituents we feel sorry for. Because any option for 18a turns them into a clogged up rat run maze for passers through.
@MrMcCullo Yes ironically Pucklechurch will be feeling good right now... but as you say, the Western route is hugely detrimental there too.
The psychology of perception of choice is fascinating hey!
@MrMcCullo We reckon 33.3% each likelyhood for either.... Western route, East A, No junction. That’s how up in the air it still is! And will be so until 2022.
A lot of people don’t want the junction on their doorstep but aren’t aware that no junction is a legitimate option.
