Health educator with a passion for eliminating health disparities and teaching others to live their best lives. Lover of bacon, but don’t hold it against me.
Delighted that the very talented @MrGoodwin23 has taken the time to produce this lovely one-pager.
It summarises #GrowingGreatTeachers; a replacement for performance management that has professional growth and teacher well-being at its very heart. #ImproveNotProve
@airfrance my luggage was never loaded onto my flight from Lisboa. I have already filed a claim and am awaiting an update. Who might I contact to speak to an actual person?
@HollyAlperin@sarahbenes12 My teachers were so excited about using your book to teach the skills. There’s a lot of overlap between health skills and the IB approaches to learning. Of course I mentioned how the ATLs are skills health teachers have been teaching
I haven’t tweeted in ages. Last week I started my tenure as a HS VP. @HollyAlperin@sarahbenes12 today, I used #skillsbasedhealthed to give my staff a framework for teaching self management and IB approaches to learning.
@HollyAlperin@lea_hanke@sarahbenes12 We did one where Ss recorded a video diary for someone who was in need of mental health support. They had to point them to community resources and explain why it was a good source of help. Ss picked the mental health issue they wanted to address: stress, depression, anxiety etc
I received a stack of new health &PE resources from my administration today. They said I may find them useful. One of them was Lesson Planning for Skills-based Health Education @HollyAlperin and @sarahbenes12. Should I tell them or let them see for themselves? 😂
@LaRocqueHealth@healtheduteen You could also use analyzing influences. The younger students could analyze why they adopt behaviors related to sex and alcohol and then the older students could focus on decision making.

This is one of the many observations that #HealthEd teachers report after switching to a #skillsbasedhealthed approach. Part of the learning is teaching (and allowing) students to dig deeper - even when it’s uncomfortable. @sarahbenes12
