CHAOS IN PARIS: Riot police push through a human chain outside a Paris high school as France's growing student protest movement spills into another tense confrontation.

The standoff unfolds outside Hélène Boucher school, where students are protesting overcrowded classrooms, teacher shortages and deteriorating school conditions. Demonstrations are sweeping the country, with students blockading hundreds of schools.

France's Interior Ministry says 86,000 people joined demonstrations outside Paris Tuesday morning, while the CGT union puts nationwide participation far higher at 260,000.

A woman was ATTACKED in broad daylight by a man who followed her in Midtown Atlanta.

Investigators say the suspect trailed the woman from the Midtown MARTA station to 10th and West Peachtree, claimed he had a gun and demanded her purse and phone. When they struggled over the purse, police say he punched her, grabbed her belongings and then took off.

The woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Police are now asking the public to help identify the bearded suspect, described as being in his early 30s and about 6 feet tall.

Police say he fled northbound after the attack.
