Jamie Michael, a 45-year-old former Royal Marine, has been cleared of stirring racial hatred on Facebook.

It took only 15 minutes for the jury acquit Jamie Michael, 46 stirring up racial hatred, based on a video he made around the time of the Southport protests. The former decorated Royal Marine did tours of duty in Iraq & Afghanistan.

The complaint was made by the vile Buffy Williams, a @WelshLabour member of the Senedd for Rhondda. He was held on remand for 17 days.

In an excellent piece from lawyer @LukeSGittos1986 he argues that you can found guilty even if you did not mean to stir up racial hatred, under Section 2 (1) of the Public Order Act 1986.

He writes "The offence of stirring up racial hatred is defined far too broadly."

Luke rightly praises the Free @SpeechUnion & barrister Adam King for freeing Jamie.

Also due a shout out is @VoWalesOfficial who supported & reported on the trial.
