I’m giving a platform to women who live behind the veil across the Middle East — in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Sudan and elsewhere.
Their messages don’t always agree with one another. But it isn’t my place to decide which women deserve to be heard, or to censor what they have to say.
I believe women should be able to speak for themselves, without my interference.
I know that will upset some people, and I’m genuinely sorry for that.
Let Women Speak.
🗑️ He was living in trash and at rock bottom
🪱 The flies had got at his old wounds which had caused very serious heart worm
🐕 He was so small he couldn’t defend himself against bigger dogs
🤒 He had so many things wrong with him that he was so drained and anemic. He wouldn’t have lasted much longer on the streets.
Of course we had to call him Rod Stewart with that spiky hairstyle. It turns out he is the gentlest little sweet heart ever.
Now that he is fully better he is getting ready for his big trip to his forever home In Ireland 🇮🇪.
Just look at the fluffiness on him and his sheer joy in being alive. Some man Rod, some man!
Mr Big lost his battle today. I suppose we all knew it was coming but it still hits hard. The big gentle giant who we’ve fixed up several times slipped away gently as his options ran out. I’m happy his body can now relax as I think the pain was starting to bother him.
I get so many people asking me how to deal with the loss of a dog. It’s one of my most popular DMs. I wish I knew the answer. All I know is I like to think of the positives and the good memories. As time passes you soon realize you were so lucky to be in a dog’s presence. Probably none more so than Mr Big.
He was a bundle of fun. Always up for an adventure. Always giving 100%. The sort of dog who just makes you smile non stop. Farewell big guy ❤️
🚨 HERE IS WHAT LABOUR DID TO GREAT BRITAIN IN JUST ONE SINGLE WEEK
Take a look at the trail of absolute destruction Andy Burnham and his ministers inflicted on this country over the last seven days.
*Freed 700 convicted criminals onto British streets early, including violent domestic abusers and foreign offenders released into local communities on immigration bail.
*Andy Burnham confirmed on television that he could campaign to drag Britain back into the European Union, after his own aides admitted he ad libbed one third of his conference speech.
*Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy backed plans to force every household to pay a compulsory BBC levy on broadband and council tax bills, even if you do not own a television set.
*Financial Secretary James Murray imploded on live radio, unable to answer four times in a row how much his own Treasury energy policy will cost the taxpayer.
*Nature Minister Jenny Riddell Carpenter branded traditional British pubs, pints of ale, and pet black labradors a dangerous far right fantasy that never existed.
*Official figures revealed Shabana Mahmood is rubber stamping 1,100 permanent settlement applications every single working day, adding 200,000 people to welfare access in a single year.
Labour ministers do not have a clue how to run a sovereign nation.
They only know how to raise your taxes, police your online speech, empty the prisons, and surrender British borders to the rest of the world.
Retweet this immediately to make sure every voter in Britain sees the absolute carnage Labour caused in just seven days.
It's completely unimaginable that anyone has to live like this. Like so many stories I've received this completely broke my heart. The ordinariness of the things she longs to do and feel, the things I do everyday without a thought, without permission or a watchful eye.
This was sent to me last May.
This is a stark reminder that women's freedom can be taken as it was given. In the UK most of us are free, but the creep of this menace doesn't escape me.
He spent his entire life tangled up on a short chain. That’s why I called him Rusty.
To see him now is a thing of beauty. One of the nicest and most gentle dogs you could ever wish to meet
We're live. If you care about the principle that justice should apply to everyone in Scotland equally, please contribute if you can to our fundraiser to bring a judicial review of the refusal to investigate the indyref donations misappropriated by the SNP. https://t.co/FDSwq9PTjy
This cannot be stressed enough. The State Pension is not ‘welfare’. It is, as Mark says, based on a contract and people paying in accordingly. And far from being ‘unaffordable’ the National Insurance Fund had a surplus of nearly £80bn last year. Something that the ‘axe the Triple Lock’ brigade never mention.
🏴👑⚔️🔥👊
Robert the Bruce spent 1306 as a fugitive king, hunted through Scottish caves and marshes while his family faced the scaffold.
Two years later he'd defeat England at Bannockburn and carve Scotland's independence into history. The transformation began the moment Scotland chose which name to follow.
When Robert Bruce claimed the Scottish throne in March 1306, he had no army, no treasury, and blood on his hands from a fresh murder in a church. He'd stabbed his rival John Comyn before the altar at Greyfriars Kirk in Dumfries, then rushed to Scone for a makeshift coronation with a borrowed crown. Edward I of England declared him an outlaw. The English king's response was swift and merciless.
By summer Bruce was running for his life. The English cavalry scattered his small force at the Battle of Methven in June. His brother Nigel was captured and hanged. His wife Elizabeth, daughter Marjorie, and sisters Mary and Christina were taken prisoner. Elizabeth would spend four years locked in manor houses under guard. Mary and Christina were caged in wooden lattices hung from the walls of Roxburgh and Berwick castles, exposed to the elements, left on public display like animals. Their crime was being kin to a man who'd dared call himself king.
Bruce fled west with a handful of loyal men. They slept in sea caves on the coast of Argyll and hid in the bogs of Rathlin Island off Ireland. The man who'd claimed Scotland's crown was now scavenging food and dodging English patrols in his own kingdom. Every lord who might have supported him had reason to think twice. The English held his family hostage. They'd already executed his brother. Bruce had no castles, no gold to pay soldiers, and England's full might hunting him through the heather.
Yet Scotland needed a name to follow. Not just any noble with a claim and an army. A name that carried weight when whispered in taverns and murmured in kirk doorways. A name freemen and lairds alike could pronounce as their champion without sounding like traitors to a distant memory. The kingdom had spent a decade without a king after the death of Alexander III in 1286, then endured the humiliation of John Balliol's puppet reign and his forced abdication. Scotland had become a prize fought over by English armies and Scottish nobles playing both sides.
Bruce's name did something the others couldn't. It was old Scottish nobility but not too old, powerful but not foreign, Bruce but also Robert. The English knew him as Robert de Brus, a Norman-origin lord with lands on both sides of the border. The Scots knew him as Robert the Bruce. That second name became the one that mattered. Not de Brus the baron with English estates. The Bruce. Scotland's Bruce. The man who'd rather hide in a cave as king of a free nation than bow in a palace as baron of a conquered one.
By 1307 Bruce had returned from hiding. He began retaking castles, one by one, using guerrilla tactics and night raids. When Edward I died that summer, his son Edward II lacked his father's focus. Bruce gained ground. His forces grew. The lords who'd stayed neutral began quietly sending men. By 1314 Bruce commanded an army large enough to meet the English in open battle at Bannockburn. He led from the front, killing an English knight in single combat the day before the main engagement. His outnumbered Scots routed Edward II's cavalry and sent the English king fleeing for his life.
Scotland had chosen the name it would follow into fire. The Bruce wasn't just a king with a claim. He was the man who'd survived the caves, rebuilt the army, and staked everything on the gamble that a people would rather fight behind a hunted fugitive than live quietly under a foreign boot.
That choice echoed for seven centuries. The name stuck.🏴👑⚔️🔥💙
Less than two days and we’re over 83% of the way there. Home stretch now, folks. Maybe there’ll be justice in Scotland after all. https://t.co/FDSwq9Qr96
According to Robert Smith, when he wrote this song, he told his bandmates..
"I'll never write something this good again"

Susan Smith, of the campaign group For Women Scotland, said: “The RCN must be either incredibly naive or they must think their members are fools.
Nurses do an incredible job and they should not have to face discrimination in the NHS and be unsupported by a hostile union.”
It bloody disgusts me that everyone involved thinks this is a suitable solution.
Scotland is his home, and the whole point of the film is how difficult his life has been because of the lack of acceptance because of his condition.
Honestly fuck BAFTA Scotland.
