Great news today - we have been pushing for months to make sure workers jobs and conditions secured - me made it clear that nothing less would be tolerated. A good news day ✊✊
Over past 18 months over 15,000 children have died in Gaza and around 34,000 have been injured. @irishcongress is now calling on workers across Ireland to observe a moment of reflection for peace in Palestine at 1.05 pm on Wednesday 4 June as an act of solidarity and remembrance
Great to see the messages of support and solidarity from French union @UnionCgt - Solidarité 🇫🇷
Time for @Veolia's CEO @E_Brachlianoff to step in and end @VeoliaUK’s union-busting tactics and resolve this dispute.
LISTEN: Unite’s James McCabe on LMFM talking about attempts by some construction employers to not pay workers for last Friday, when sites closed due to #StormEowyn. “We would view it as profiteering. Unite will absolutely defend our members’ rights”. #UniteConstruction
Highly profitable employers tried to avoid their responsibilities by demanding that workers take a day’s leave when sites closed during one of the worst storms in living memory. @unitetheunion are challenging this.

“At the end of the war, people said ‘Never Again’. For a lot of us, it was ‘Never Again’ for anyone, not just Jews… We in the United States have supported this [war] all along. We have the power to end it… to stop arming Israel.”
On Holocaust Remembrance Day, Irena Klepfisz, poet, writer, lesbian activist, JVP member and child survivor of the Holocaust, describes the life-long impact the Holocaust had on her. “When I see Palestinian children,” she explains, “I am acutely aware of the damage that’s being done to them.”
Collectively, we determine what the legacy of Holocaust memory will be. We can weaponize our pain and inscribe the names of our ancestors on the funding bills and bombs that are aimed at Palestinians. Or, we can carry our ancestors’ memories into actions that unite and protect us all. We at JVP choose the latter. We won’t stop until Palestinians can return to their homes and the Israeli government halts its genocidal attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
“[Palestinians] deserve a life where they can feel safe,” Irena says, “where they can have hope, where they can look forward to a future very concretely, where they can dream and imagine a future.” May it be so.

Storm Eowyn: Construction employers try to cheat workers out of day’s leave | Unite demands ‘extreme weather’ legislation as workers told to take unpaid day’s leave | Employers accused of shifting closure cost onto workers #StormEowyn

Unite is here to advise and support our members. As #StormEowyn approaches, we urge all our members who are able to do so to heed the Red Alert, stay home and stay safe.
The campaign for the reinstatement of the winter fuel payment continued today with an event at the Long Gallery at Stormont. ✊✊
MLA’s from all the political parties were in attendance.
@UniteEconomy
Paula Lawlor- another woman killed in her own home💔. A man she knew has been arrested. Sympathies to all her loved ones. 4 women/girls have been killed by #femicide in the last 3 weeks in the south of Ireland. Violence against women is the biggest global threat to female health
What an absolute hero. #GiselePelicot endured unimaginable abuse, fought for a public trial that authorities wanted in secret.
She has exposed the presence of mass misogyny in society. 50 men sentenced for mass rape, including her ex husband. Time to face up to gender violence.
"So, before winter gets here, stand proud and be ready to fight.
A worker’s economy for all, led by our Trade Union Unite."
When pensioners are under attack. Unite fights back 🥊
Pls watch & share this poem ❄️ Defend the #WinterFuel payment

We are now only a matter of weeks away from releasing the interim report on the potential corruption around the @unitetheunion Birmingham Hotel and conference centre and the Affiliated Services. When I became GS, I promised that I would uncover the truth, no matter how difficult that was. Despite the vile, ugly attacks on me from those with much to lose, I have kept that promise. The report will be made public and we are already in the process of getting our members' money back!

⚠️ @GOVUK has a vital role to play to secure transfer of all @SpiritAero sites together and sustaining #NorthernIreland aerospace.
💬 @unitetheunion welcomes the @GOVUK's ambition for aerospace but this must translate into practical action such as safeguarding jobs at Spirit in Northern Ireland.
It is unacceptable that this uncertainty is still hanging over one of Northern Ireland’s most vital industries. The government must intervene now to secure a transfer of all sites and all jobs to a single entity – this is by far the best way to safeguard jobs and skills.
