@ovshake42 But Iznogoud's art style reflected the tone of the writing as well IMO. I too love Uderzo's art but really disliked his handling of the writing esp in later books after Goscinny's death

Asterix has controlled wit. Iznogoud has madcap wit. Both are equally wonderful IMO

Asterix was a huge part of my childhood + Goscinny is my favourite comics writer (with Alan Moore). Rarely did the Uderzo titles come close to the heights of the Goscinny written ones.

It was many years later that a comics series equalled Asterix. It was Iznogoud (also Goscinny)
