The term “suicidal empathy” sounds more like an attempt to romanticize the motives of criminals. Few people are foolish enough to have what could be called “suicidal empathy.” In most cases, the reason people behave this way is quite simple: they stand to gain something themselves, even if it is merely the moral satisfaction of seeing themselves as virtuous, while others bear the costs. History is full of people who have engaged in such hypocritical acts disguised as virtue. There is nothing new under the sun. More than a century ago in China, some people from the lower classes called themselves revolutionaries, using that identity to feel morally superior to others.
Would Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette’s greed ever have an end? No. Likewise, the greed of the people has no end either. That is human nature. The left maintains its power and wealth by buying off the public, but the price the public demands keeps getting higher and higher. Once the Pandora’s box of greed is opened, it is difficult to close.
In former leftist countries such as the Soviet Union, those in power took back what they had used to buy off the masses through imprisonment and killing. Would Macron dare to do that?
Unfortunately, very few Canadians truly understand the Soviet Union, North Korea, the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, or the former East Germany. They have never experienced life under a communist regime firsthand. Most people neither think critically nor read history. They cannot comprehend what it means for a communist regime to wipe out a population the size of Canada—roughly 40 million people—in just a few years. Canadians like the Liberal Party. They like communism.
They refuse to acknowledge this because they’ve benefited from having the Liberals in power. Criticizing Carney threatens their own vested interests. In the former Soviet Union, North Korea, and Cambodia, countless people who benefited from the existing system resented anyone who exposed the truth about their leaders.
