Last Tuesday, we were fortunate to be invited to Chicksands for a tour of their intelligence training facilities. They organised a fun activity that the Cadets enjoyed. A big thank you to the team at Chicksands for their hospitality and for making it such a memorable experience!
Tonight was recruitment night, where potential new recruits got the chance to see what we do here at 1985 Squadron. From Command Tasks, to Drill and Flight Sim; there was a lot to see and do.
We're excited to see the next generation of cadets start their journey in the corps.
Tonight we saw the promotion of Sgt Cahill and Sgt Rayner ππ
Congratulations to you both. It was very well deserved and we hope to see you continue the Squadron's excellent work as you take on more responsibilities in your new roles.
Last weekend, Cpl Cahill and her team completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition, which involved a 4 day expedition across Snowdonia covering around 78km.
A big well done to all involved, as it's one step closer to one of the biggest achievements you can get in the core.
This month, Sgt Bierton and CWO Harvey attended the International Four Day Nijmegen March - an 100 mile walk across the Netherlands, representing the squadron and the region on an international stage and earning themselves a medal in the process.
A big well done to them ππ₯Ύ
Recently, 1985 Squadron competed in the annual @BedsCambsWing Wing Field Competition, in which we achieved 2nd place for a second year in a row.
A big well done to all involved! It's a testament to the consistent hard work the cadets and staff have made. You should all be proud!
Yesterday a team of cadets attended RAF Henlow to participate in the annual @BedsCambsWing Wing Field Competition & were awarded 2nd place overall.
A very well done to everyone for a fantastic effort & massive congratulations to our friends at @207Sqn who won the competition.
Today we had the huge privilege of attending Buckingham Palace to witness the changing of the guard with the Coldstream Guards relieving the Scots Guards.
This was a great experience for the cadets to go behind the gates and see up close this historic ceremony.
We had a great time at the Flitwick Family Fun Day on the weekend speaking to many members of the community about our squadron & all of the great opportunities available to young people in @aircadets . And we were pleased to raise funds for RAFA.

Yesterday 6 cadets formed a guard of honour for VIPβs and guests attending the Ampthill Town Mayorβs Civic Service to celebrate the Kingβs Coronation.

We had a mixed bag of weather with glorious sunshine yesterday & drizzle today, perfect for testing their wet weather kit in preparation for the assessed expedition
This weekend was the first Southern Sector DofE expedition of the year and we were blessed with glorious sunshine.

One of the privileges of being OC @BedsCambsWing is to promote deserving cadets to the rank of CWO. Today, I had the pleasure of a field promotion of CWO Elliott Bierton of @1985squadron.
Congratulations and well deserved after your hard work.

This weekend we kicked off the DofE expedition season opening our doors to host a Southern Sector Bronze Training weekend.
The cadets were taught from the Bronze training syllabus to gain the knowledge and understanding required to complete their Bronze Expeditions.
Last night we dined out Sqn Ldr Bierton at our first dining out night since 2020 with a special mountain theme to represent his love of the Lake District.
Everyone had a great meal followed by lots of fun on the dance floor.
Thank you to everyone that joined us.
