@ScottEspo94@TheBobStew Interesting chart, the amounts are very small but the %’s are similar yanks and Philly spending 4X as much as the bottom, somewhat similar to the current situation on a % basis…rays were at 90 million and dodgers at 350 million…about 4X
@ScottEspo94@TheBobStew Fair enough, you aren’t wrong they had a good mix. But they did out spend everyone and tht gave them a competitive advantage. It’s not much different that the current situation with the dodgers. We have to agree to disagree
@ScottEspo94@TheBobStew The Yankees were the first team into big spending. They led the league in spending form 76-81 and it wasn’t close. I’d bet on a % basis probably not much different than the current dodgers. Contracts for hunter and Jackson dwarfed all others
@ScottEspo94@TheBobStew Baseball free agency didn’t start in the 90’s, they bought every player known to man in the 70’s just like the dodgers…look it up
@TheBobStew Bob look it up no team has spent more money on free agents than the Yankees except in the last few years, in the history of baseball now the worm turned and you aren’t happy
@SurvivingGrady Unbelievable, the announcing of that at bat was great. Old man shaunessy wrote some wonderful articles on those games capturing the angst of Sox fans. Great post!
