His hat also doesn't really fit him like it normally does.

I'm mostly talking about how bark is a cheap copy on sonic in mania, they even didn't bother with the fur on his face

@spookyblook @abismal_pecto I think the mouth is a little off-putting but his beak overall looks decent to me, but I can get what you mean.
I think his stance kinda squashes him and makes him look disproportionate

The render has distinct qualities and they just kinda traced Sonic's sprite for his in game appearance
They didn't even bother with his hair

@Disko_Dreamcast It kinda looks like they modified his face a smidge but not enough to make it look like bark. They just softened his eyes and made his nose pointy, made his cheek a bit smaller, etc
