Joseph Andrew Bragg, 03/29/1997-age 28, has now been charged with kidnapping and 1st degree criminal sexual conduct in the abduction of the Zimmerman girl on Wednesday.

Charges say Bragg made contact with the child's mother through Facebook back in December and said he was in "child care" and wanted to know if she knew anyone who needed services. Bragg also made other comments about wanting to engage in activities with children. The mother eventually blocked him.

Police developed Bragg as a suspect, and a vehicle was identified that he had access to. Police were able to ping his phone, which showed him traveling south.

LEO in Albert Lea spotted the vehicle at a gas station, and stopped it shortly thereafter. The girl was in the back seat.

Further investigation revealed that before leaving the Twin Cities, Bragg brought the girl to a hotel room and sexually assaulted her. Bragg arrived with the girl in an Uber. He was later observed wielding a heavy red suitcase into the hotel, and exiting with the suitcase 30 minutes later.

Information also indicated that Bragg had been in the same area of the abduction the day prior.

Bragg declined to provide a statement upon arrest.

Bragg had a bail hearing on Friday and is being held on $4 million bail.

Several online commenters have stated that Bragg was a participant in local babysitting and nanny groups and had sent messages to other parents.

RIP the Uptown Cub Foods (for now). The last time I went there, someone out front was openly injecting drugs, a security guard was kicking a guy out for flashing a gun, and the store got robbed while I was waiting to check out. It was 7pm. If it never comes back it'll be too soon

This is the suspect name Crime Watch received this morning. This has not been officially confirmed as the suspect, but a number of sources are reporting it, so we're posting it, as well.

@CrimeWatchMpls Just think for a moment if the person murdered was your family member. How does that make you feel? This is so outrageous.
