A Ghanaian mechanic will get hold of your car and just impound it in his garage indefinitely. He won't do the work but he won't release your car.

He'll just hold on to it and tell you a fresh variant of "come back tomorrow" 9 days in a row without any sense of shame. Every day one excuse. "The electrician didn't come." "The shops at Abossey-Okai did not open." "We've not been able to trace the fault, please exercise patience."

Until you finally get angry and you threaten to get the police involved, then magically the problem that couldn't be fixed in 9 days will be fixed in 3 hours with plenty of muttering and side-eyeing, and when you drive away, you will notice that the car you handed over to him with a half tank of petrol now has an empty tank with the fuel light on.
