Which feeds the racist notion that Latino immigrants are “rapists,” to use Trump’s term, justifying racist vigilante and police violence. The same idea feeds the racist notion that Latina immigrants can’t be raped, covering up the sexual violence they routinely face. If this sounds familiar to Black, Native, and Asian Americans, then that is because these racist ideas of hyper-sexuality have been ascribed to women and men in our communities too.
