@VivaciousWritin @KimberlyNFoster I don’t think that’s it though. We praise the product or outcome of getting an education, but don’t model or praise the process of being smart. If this isn’t modeled in our homes, then our children will not understand behaviors associated with being smart. Possibly criticize them
@KimberlyNFoster In my experience, it was the way I spoke that was not reflected in my neighborhood, home, or personal settings. I decided as a child to silence my voice. As an adult I came to except my voice as it is a large part of my success.
