From 2026, I will start investing in Nigerian startups especially those whose founders are still very young, overlooked and don’t have access to the “circle” of Nigeria tech gatekeepers.
Yes, I will bet on those i know have potentials.
I will also speak to my friends in the US,Canada and the UK, we can form a small community of early stage investors.
It’s a possibility!
This is Opay's Founder, Zhou Yahui.
Over 20 years ago, he stepped away from a Tsinghua master's degree to build a website.
The site lasted four years and then died. The money was gone. He went back to campus, finished the degree, and started again.
What came next was Kunlun, a games company that listed and made him a billionaire.
He then bought Opera, the old European browser that we all know, and used it as a global platform.
He tried Grindr and was forced to sell when American regulators pushed back, but he still left the deal richer anyways.
After that, he turned to Africa and built OPay, chasing payments with the same appetite he once brought to games.

Today, Zhou Yahui is proof that you can go into any field you want to. It doesn't matter that it isn't something within your expertise.

Increase your success rate by diving into multiple fields. If you fail, you learn.
If you succeed, you copy that template into another field and increase your chance of success there too.
He did this with Opera. He did it again with Opay.
Today, understand that Success, no matter how small, brings valuable stats that if studied well, you'll replicate that template in other fields you go into and you'll succeed in them.
