@hblakingfan@MichaelAnderzyn I agree but signing Cody Ceci is no small thing. Cody Ceci can and likely will undo any good that other players do (especially who he is paired with)
@RYGRAAL@TheBannermenPod I’d be fine with a top 4 of Mikey - Drew, Dumoulin - Clarke, but paying $7M MINIMUM for a below average 3rd pair is managerial malpractice
@RYGRAAL@TheBannermenPod Yeah exactly. At this point, it’s not even about the crazy amount of money they’re taking up, its roster spots too. They’re locked up for a few years too so this is the D core for the next 2 years minimum baring any drastic changes
@fialafallo It’s so funny because there’s such a league wide need for RHD and the kings have had a million (good ones too) and the kings have somehow mismanaged every single one
@CarterScores@Papa_P38 Don’t forget about the critical role of slipping and sliding around the ice every time you’re defending the best player in the world, that’s a big thing too
@kingsfansince71@NHLRussell@ByfieldForHart This isn’t a knock on Carter, he’s a great player and this organization owes him a ton. I’m just saying that if Marner wasn’t in Toronto, this narrative around him wouldn’t exist. I love Carter and I think Marner could be exactly to this team what Carter was to the 2012/14 kings
@kingsfansince71@NHLRussell@ByfieldForHart Being on that team doesn’t necessarily make you a winner or a competitor though
Marner is a better player than Carter, he has 110 less points in 664 less games as a selke candidate and is exactly what the kings need: offensive dynamo righty winger who changes their entire scheme
@kingsfansince71@NHLRussell@ByfieldForHart Jeff Carter wasn’t some crazy tough guy that seemed like he hated losing, he actually got the reputation of being soft and a quitter in CBJ. But he was superbly talented and came into a situation with players and staff who brought that out of him, same could be said for Marner
@JWPatarino Not just unwise from a money standpoint, you’re also solidifying that half your defenseman and your entire left side is incapable of creating any offense for the next 3 years minimum
@liontamer18 Never seen so many people against signing a 100+ point guy. This team doesn’t need more grit, it doesn’t need some tweaks, it needs better players
