More than 48.7 million Americans struggle with substance abuse every day — and one study says it is a particular problem in the music industry.
Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and @nikomoon are teaming up with @1MilStrong to create sober-inclusive spaces at concerts and festivals: “No matter what’s going on, you can still belong.”
September is National Recovery Month, which is a time to celebrate recovery and amplify recovery resources. Sobriety is not an easy path to navigate, but having the support of a community behind you can make a big difference @ufc@StandTogether
@RiseRecoverLive The people we meet and the stories we hear are why we do what we do and we can't wait to share more of the #1MillionStrong community with you all month long.
Today is the start to National Recovery Month. Throughout September, there will be more conversation about recovery and all the pathways available to address addiction. What we want to add to that conversation is the necessity of community.
What we've seen in our work with @riserecoverlive and all of our activations is that whatever pathway you find to sobriety, community is part of the necessary glue that makes it sustainable.
Our volunteers and guests come from all over the country and have often never met each other before a festival, but as one guest said, "I've never been to this tent and quote, 'been alone.'"
Bill Taylor, Director of Music at @riserecoverlive, has decades of experience in the music industry and knows that this work is at its best when people in recovery and people not in recovery both care about pushing the conversation forward.
1 Million Strong is here to spark conversations around recovery in music and provide a supportive space for people to embrace sobriety and still do the things they love. The promise of recovery spaces means something different to each of us. What does it mean to you?
Why Music - #1MillionStrong is a campaign to change how people think and talk about recovery. We started in the music industry because its disproportionality impacted by addiction, but also because we believe it has some of the biggest power to create change.
We’re all about creating change in the music industry. Learn more about how these musicians are opening up the discussion on recovery. 👇
