Teachers receive 22 fewer weeks of full maternity pay than many other public sectors- including DfE officials.
It's a major factor cited by woman in their thirties, who are leaving the sector in droves + hugely in tension with the govt's retention goals.

@SteveStuWill As a kid I’d spend every Saturday morning entering competitions on Live&Kicking while my parents were in bed. I’d get so upset if the presenter read out the phone number to call & it started with “oh eight hundred” because our telephone didn’t have the number 800 on it.
@mr_englishteach It’s so demoralising. I’m worried about the next round of mocks- students who do well in them eventually end up feeling gutted when they actually get up to 2 grades lower in the real thing. They must lose trust in our marking and it makes us question our own accuracy, too.
Our Trust INSET day this week revealed to me that I have now taught a teacher. Lovely to see ex pupils enter the profession and all that but omg am I officially old? 🙃
@TeacherBusy I get up early and go for a walk before school to mentally prepare for the day ahead and then a de-stress walk after dinner. In winter, I use the gym nearest my school or 30 min YouTube pilates. You feel productive then before even getting to school!
