@davefarley77 Flying blind.
Being unable to test/experiment with production data, infra and metrics and consequently, not having a good sense for what the optimal solution is
@sakkebam@Dylan_Heederik@AdamLaneSmith Because you get away with it.
No one holds anyone accountable for closing chapters anymore.
The worst thing about ghosting is not the rejection or indifference ( roughly 8B people DGAF who you are and that's ok)
The worst thing is that no one is going say anything to the ghost
@davefarley77 Could not agree more!
After 10 years in the industry, you were the first one to convince me of TDD by explaining it the best.
And you're absolutely right, not all terms are used appropriately and not all software practices are equally valuable π―
@TheBrometheus Part of the reason notifications are silenced by default and exceptionally on.
It's a distraction from living closest to your true potential that no one need or can afford

Best case scenario you're selling yourself short, worst case scenario she's going to start believing it and expecting an uneven relationship and preferential treatment.
@jocelynrache @TheBrometheus That's how it should be, frankly.
And it might have something to do with the success paradox:
work your tail off and act as if you controlled everything
AND
thank your lucky stars when you're met with success π
@TheBrometheus π― It's now an expectation and no longer a welcomed gesture.
You're punished if you don't and not thanked if you do.
You can make a case for one side to pick up the bill when incomes are vastly different but that is hardly ever the case anymore and yet the entitlement remains
@venkat_s A good chunk of SW development relies on the "surely this implementation is flawless, don't question it" premise (as opposed to "surely it has flaws/trade-offs, let's collect evidence as to whether it fits the bill"), which is troubling indeed π€
@davefarley77 Never ceases to amaze me the large portion of software folks who identify as programmers, coder and hackers compared to the few who identify as engineers...
