@Utdtruthful I don’t like the Argentine team one bit, but Gary Neville had this coming. You can’t constantly criticize players and expect everyone to just smile and take it forever. Well said Romero
12% possession between Gordon’s opener and Martínez’ winner.
If only there was a player on the bench who never loses the ball in tight spaces, defends brilliantly in a low block and acts like a pressure valve for his team when their backs are up against a wall.
Kobbie Mainoo will have learned a lot from last season under Rúben Amorim and from his experience at the World Cup.
Many will see this period as proof that he isn't good enough, and the criticism is understandable. But don't be surprised when he comes back stronger. Setbacks like these can shape a player's mentality.
Not playing a single game at the World Cup will hurt, and I'm sure he'll use that disappointment as fuel. Every minute he gets on the pitch next season will mean more to him, and he'll be determined to prove he belongs and never be in a position where he has to watch from the sidelines again.
It was heartbreaking and disappointing to see Thomas Tuchel call him up and not give him a single minute after a wonderful seasonwith Michael Carrick, but this is where the real work begins for Kobbie.
I can't wait to see you bounce back and conquer, brother. ❤️⏳💪
To not give Kobbie Mainoo a single, solitary minute on the pitch across this entire tournament in the USA is a complete operational failure.
Go rest up, lad we have a massive, beautiful season ahead.
🚨🗣️ Rooney when asked about England midfield:
“I'd go with Rice, Kobbie Mainoo and Bellingham. I think in TIGHT areas Mainoo can give you a bit of both.
“I think he is the ONLY ONE capable of doing that in tight areas.” 🔙
Tuchel loves defenders. https://t.co/TH3iXxAmeZ
🚨🗣 "Thomas Tuchel on why he's not playing Kobbie Mainoo:
🗣 Reporter: "Kobbie Mainoo has been on the bench from the start of the tournament to the end, what do you have to say about that?"
"Most of the games have been tense and I have watched him play so I know he can't play in such games that's why I haven't played him but, He[Mainoo] will play the third place against France"
0 minutes and left at home.
“Rice” and “Anderson” are nothing but energetic shin kickers who haven’t got a line breaking pass between them.
This country chooses passion merchants over technically gifted footballers.
You don’t take a player like Kobbie Mainoo to a World Cup training camp just to improve the quality of your training sessions. He’s far too talented for that. If he’s good enough to make the squad, he’s good enough to play.
Kobbie Mainoo isn’t a training cone. You don’t take a player of his quality to a World Cup camp just to raise the level of training. If he’s on the plane, he should be in the manager’s plans. He’s better than that.
🚨 Rio on Kobbie Mainoo not playing a single minute at the World Cup:
🗣️ Reporter:
“Are you surprised Mainoo still hasn’t featured?”
🗣️ Rio:
“Surprised? I’m confused. Rice has played. Anderson has played. Rogers, Eze & Henderson have all played. They’ve even put Reece James in midfield before giving Kobbie a minute.
Nobody is saying Kobbie has to start every game, but at some point you have to explain why he was called up.
The lad could’ve stayed in Manchester, rested after a long season and watched the tournament from home. He’d have played the same amount of football.
You don’t take a player like Kobbie Mainoo to the World Cup just to improve the standard of the training sessions.”
