Congratulations to the 14 @hub71ad startups recognized in the UAE Future 100.
Encouraging to see so many founders building globally relevant companies from Abu Dhabi and contributing to the UAE's innovation economy.
We were proud to participate in the celebration and look forward to supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Lebanese founders keep building through conditions most wouldn't attempt.
We want to meet them.

Thirlled to share that @PVP_VC has led @SavmoneyApp's US$3.5M Pre-Series A to support its expansion into Saudi Arabia.
Proud of our investment team, especially @zahi_hilal, who captained the deal, with great support from @1anthonyassaad and Sarah Caffoor.
Looking forward to working with @purvimunot , @mithil_ajmera and the SAV team from the Board as they build one of the GCC's most exciting AI-powered consumer fintech platforms.
Infrastructure creates platforms. Platforms create ecosystems.
Why the SpaceX × Cursor deal makes more sense than most people think.
The headlines focus on the $60B price tag.
I think that's the wrong conversation.
From a venture capital perspective, the more interesting question is:
Who should own the developer interface in an AI-native world?
@cursor_ai has become one of the defining products of the AI era, embedding itself into daily engineering workflows and becoming part of how software is increasingly built.
While Meta would have been a logical acquirer, I believe the asset ultimately landed where it creates the most strategic value.
Because this isn't simply a software acquisition.
It's a bet on controlling the full stack:
• Compute
• Models
• Distribution
• Developer workflow
@SpaceX already controls enormous computing infrastructure and has been expanding its AI ambitions through xAI and Grok.
Cursor brings something equally important: the layer where developers actually create.
Historically, the biggest technology winners weren't the companies that built a single product.
They were the companies that owned the ecosystem.
The key question is not whether $60B is expensive relative to today's revenue.
The key question is whether AI coding becomes a feature, or becomes the operating system for knowledge work.
If it's the latter, this acquisition may look surprisingly inexpensive in hindsight.
As venture investors, our job is not to extrapolate today's multiples.
It's to identify where value will accrue when a platform shift rewires an industry.
This deal feels like a bet on exactly that.
Aug 10: Base Power raised $1B at a $13B valuation for home battery storage. Led by Ribbit Capital + JPMorgan's venture arm.
AI's power demand isn't just creating chip startups. It's creating grid infrastructure ones.
Watch this sector.
@paulg Do you see this as a healthy trend or a warning sign?
Curious whether it's the founders getting more capable solo or co-founder relationships breaking down before the raise.
VCs pass on 95%+ of the startups we see.
Not because the rest are bad businesses. Here's what actually decides a VC's yes or no:
1. Wrong fit for the thesis
2. Too early, no real traction yet
3. Story not backed by numbers
4. Market too small to scale
5. Just not the right time
