Around two years ago for my final year of college, I was required to pick an existing story to imagine as an animated adaption. So to make sure it could hold my attention for a whole year, of course I chose The Princess Bride.

Alex: “I don’t know how to describe it. I’m in the 2nd week of a slam. It’s amazing for me. Iga is a phenomenal player and a really nice person. I’m really grateful to be able to share Centre court with her at Wimbledon. I’m really emotional. Maybe for someone like Iga who’s won so many slams or someone like Serena or Venus, this achievement may seem small.. but for someone who grew up in the Philippines…” 🥹

話を聞いてわかった。毎日やっている。時間も使っている。努力もしている。でも、昨日と同じことを今日もなぞっているだけで、成長の実感がなかった。

これ、かなり大事。

継続が苦しくなる理由は、意志が弱いからではない。成長を感じられないからだと思う。人は、前に進んでいる感覚があると続けられる。昨日より少しわかった。前より少しできた。誰かに少し喜ばれた。

この小さな成長があると、継続は根性ではなく楽しみに変わる。

だから、続けたいなら「毎日やる」だけでは足りない。
振り返る。直す。試す。少し上手くなる。ここまでセットにする。

継続とは、同じ場所で耐えることではなく、少しずつ景色を変えていくこと。
