@HavePurple @goddek @Delta The firearm wasn't stolen. The case was just pried open and the locking mechanism broken. TSA said it wasn't them when they looked on the cameras, and there were no cameras in the baggage area I was told.

@HavePurple @goddek @Delta My husband declared a firearm, labeled so also labeled unloaded. American Airlines. On arrival at our destination, locked firearm case had been pried open and the case broken beyond repair. Had to replace the case to return home. All AA said was sorry.

@barnsleysime So I didn't have to clear it out. It was a very peculiar sensation, standing over the road from where I used to live, and seeing absolutely nothing left. I am not at all sure which experience would be worse, having had to do it, or having no chance at all.

@barnsleysime I found out that the place needed a new roof, which they couldn't afford. The house was sold to the fire department next door  and was burned to the ground as a training exercise. The firehall built over it and extended their building.

@barnsleysime In later years, my uncle and his family took over the house, and my grandmother went into care. By that time, I was living on the other side of the world.

I went back in 2000 to have a look at the hamlet, now a bedroom community for the nearest city.
