Meet the “Gulf Coast Stapletons,” the influencer duo known for their sun soaked Instagram posts and TikTok clips showcasing beachside adventures, boating trips, and dining escapades. With nearly 89,000 TikTok followers and over a million likes across platforms, Joshua David Stapleton, 39, and Brittani Morris Stapleton, 31, have carefully crafted an idyllic image of Gulf Coast living, with Perdido Key, Florida, as their base and hotspots like Orange Beach and Destin’s Crab Island as their backdrop.

But the glossy facade has been shattered by a shocking revelation. Joshua Stapleton isn’t just your average family influencer- he’s a convicted sex offender. In June 2025, Joshua was sentenced to 20 years (five years in prison, 15 on probation) after pleading guilty to 20 counts of sexual exploitation of children. Between 2018 and 2020, he downloaded numerous images of graphic, sexually explicit images of prepubescent children, including some depicting children bound and abused on a playground.

The investigation began in April 2020 after a tip to the Internet Crimes Against Children program. The Cartersville Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and Department of Homeland Security uncovered Joshua’s monstrous behavior, leading to an initial 40 count indictment, half of which were dropped in a plea deal.

What’s even more unsettling? In a police interview, Joshua openly admitted to searching for and viewing child sexual abuse material for over a year and a half. His flippant justification? “People are people and bodies are bodies,” comparing it to watching adult pornography. He described feeling “ashamed” yet continued the vile behavior.

And despite these horrifying admissions, Brittani Stapleton not only stayed by his side- she married him in 2023, after he was charged. On TikTok, Brittani defends Joshua, claiming he was “upfront” about the charges before they started dating. She insists there are “no secrets,” that they’re “happy,” and bizarrely argues that Joshua only pleaded guilty because he didn’t trust the legal system, not because he’s guilty.

Her defense doesn’t stop there. Brittani has taken to social media to accuse critics of spreading “misinformation” she’s even issued thinly veiled legal threats to anyone discussing the case, warning she’ll sue for defamation. But here’s the thing: facts aren’t defamation.

The public record tells the story loud and clear. Joshua Stapleton confessed to downloading horrific child abuse content. He pled guilty. He was sentenced. These are facts, not opinions.

While Brittani frames their life as picture perfect, the reality is far darker. The Gulf Coast Stapletons may seem like couple goals online, but the truth lurking beneath the filters is one of exploitation, denial, and a deeply unsettling choice to stand by a man who admitted to viewing sexual abuse of children.
