Lately, opening Twitter just feels genuinely exhausting. UK Twitter is full of heated anti-immigrant rhetoric, open racism, and politicians fuelling it all for votes. Nigerian Twitter feels even heavier everyday killings, kidnappings, tribal toxicity, and deep political division every single day. No matter which side I look at, it’s just crisis, anger, and hatred on a loop.
Trying to stay informed shouldn’t feel like emotional self-harm, but that’s what it’s started to feel like lately.
For my own sanity and mental health, I’ll be muting words like immigrant, deportation, Fulani, triba, APC, PDP, ADC, riots, asylum, refugees, Brexit, Boko Haram, banditry, herdsmen, IPOB, Biafra, Yoruba Nation, Igbo, Hausa, election rigging, corruption scandals, constant insecurity alerts and mutuals that repost this to my timeline.
Going forward, I just want my timeline to be about tech, science, finance, fitness, learning, and creativity.
@ofor_peter@Wizarab10 As at 2015 Africa was estimated to have just over 160k millionaires. One man is claiming lagos have 1million millionaires in 2026 which is equivalent to a trillion dollars. What is Nigeria's GDP?. People can talk.
@Msmenalicious They can make it to become firmer. Problem is plastic is not biodegradable. Which blocks drains and waterways there by increasing the risk of flooding. Apart fom that it causing lot of other damage. Ideally plastic should be recycled but you know how our country is.
@Egokuwait "There he said, and he was good to his dream. He knew that if there is one thing we had lots of. Its the beautiful sky"
that guiness advert is GOATed.
No matter how British I become, someone will always ask where I'm originally from. Nigeria will always be part of my story. My heritage is invaluable to me. I'm just as disappointed as you are with what Nigeria has become and how we've been led, but renouncing my citizenship is a big No for me. I wish those who choose differently nothing but the best.
@emmanuelFLAME9@chymaker@papijo231 Shocking you have found a way to make this about tribe. I am not even yoruba. I from Edo. Common guy, it hasn't gotten to this. I just expressed my opinion.
@Msmenalicious I completely agree. Children should be allowed to learn, explore, imagine, and think independently. The truth is, much of this content is created more for the benefit of the adults than the children.
