So I think we would need to define whatโs injured. Muscle injuries require blood flow to heal and recover. Muscle tends to deal with swelling better. If you have a tendon or ligament injury swelling may increase the risk of tearing (or increasing the tear). If you have a cut, reducing the swelling could minimize the lacerating.
This is not accurate. There are two phases of healing. Ice helps reduce the swelling (host modulation) of the initial phase where nonspecific proteins enter the area. Once the body knows what to do specifically, 2nd phase, you want to increase the blood flow to area with warm pack.
Ice helps reduce swelling which can reduce the amount of tissue damage that naturally occurs. Yes you need blood flow but not immediately following injury. Hope that clears it up
