A little girl in Boston went home one day and asked her Nigerian mother if she could change her name to Zoe.
Nobody at school could say Uzoamaka.
Her mother was cooking. She didn't even turn around.
"If they can learn to say Tchaikovsky, Michelangelo, and Dostoyevsky, they can learn to say Uzoamaka."
That girl kept her name.
Then she went to Hollywood and won three Emmy Awards.
And now the whole world knows exactly how to say Uzoamaka Aduba.
Your name is not a burden. It's a prophecy.
Dear Mama, I’m Coming Home
Mama, it’s me. Your girl.
I didn’t make it home from school.
When the fire came, we ran, we tried
I held my sister’s hand. We cried.
The door was not opening that night
Papa, I called your name with all my might
But this time, you weren’t in sight
Just smoke, and heat, and dying light
Mama, I’m coming home.
This time I won’t be shouting your name from the gate.
But I’ll be coming home in a casket, Mama.
Mama, I’m sorry.
Mama, tell my classmates this:
Don’t stop laughing in the dorms at night.
Don’t let my bed stay empty with fright.
Finish the science project I started —
Put my name on it. Say I departed,
But not from you. Keep my jokes alive.
And when KCSE comes, let all of us arrive…
In your hearts. In your pens. In your drive.
Mama, tell my teachers this:
Thank you for calling my name each day.
Thank you for believing I had something to say.
I’m sorry I left before the lesson was done.
But the biggest lesson was love — and you won.
Keep teaching them fierce. Keep teaching them loud.
Tell them I was proud. So proud.
Mama, tell my friends this:
Brenda, keep my hair clips. Wear them when you’re sad.
Njeri, finish my novel — tell me how the story ends.
Faith, you still owe me a soda. I’ll collect in heaven, friend.
Don’t wear black forever. Dance at prom for me.
Live the life I was supposed to see.
Mama, I’m sorry for the fees you paid
For the dreams the fire betrayed
So Mama, fight for other girls
So that fire doesn’t kill them.
Mama, the negligence — tell them to stop the negligence.
Tell them doors should open.
Tell them girls should be safe when they sleep.
Don’t bury me and bury the truth.
Let my name unlock every roof
That traps a daughter when she should be free
Mama, that’s how you bring me home to me.
I love you. I tried.
I’m coming home, Mama.
But leave the gate open for them.
Your daughter.
Forever.
🕊️ Cecilia Wanjiku, a Form Four student at Utumishi Girls, is being remembered for extraordinary courage during the dormitory fire.
Reports say she repeatedly helped classmates escape, waking sleeping students, guiding others through smoke and shouting instructions as panic spread.
After helping save others, Cecilia later succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire. Kenya mourns a young life remembered for bravery, compassion and selflessness. 💔
21 years ago, I sat in a prison cell and learned I was pregnant.
Every sign pointed toward abortion. Every circumstance said this baby would never have a chance.
But I chose life.
I saw value in my daughter before anyone else could.
What I didn’t know was that her birth would help change laws in America. Fifteen years after I gave birth while chained to a hospital bed with a sheriff standing watch, that story reached the highest levels of government. And @POTUS granted me a full and unconditional pardon and signed legislation ending the shackling of women during childbirth in federal prisons.
Today, that same baby walked across the stage as a graduate of MIT.
From a prison birth to one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
Never let your circumstances determine someone’s worth.
There is value in life.
There is purpose in every child.
Go, baby. The world is yours. ❤️🎓

I disappeared from Twitter (X) for few years and no, it wasn’t because I quit. We all know that winners don't quit.
At my peak, life was sweet.
Great corporate job, earning good pay with huge commissions here in Dubai, UAE 🇦🇪
I was even doing giveaways for fun. “Twitter Sugarmummy” days. Good times.
But life in diaspora ? Whole different level.
Dubai changed the pace of my life completely. Different time zones, back-to-back flights, meetings, multiple countries visit, long nights, setting out early mornings… repeat.
Some days I was too exhausted to even open this app.
There were moments I even questioned if all the hustle was worth it but I kept choosing growth over noise and honestly it was worth.
The work stretched me, exposed me to bigger opportunities, and before I knew it, months turned into years.
But now, I’m in a much better space.
Still in Dubai, still winning but just with more balance and more clarity.
Finally have time to enjoy this space again.
Missed this dramatic space and my real ones who kept checking in ❤️
I’m Back.

🔐 Update on the Upcoming Verification Process
We know many of you are looking forward to verification - and we’re stepping closer to that moment.
This process is designed to be structured, transparent, and fair, ensuring every qualified Human Node moves forward with clarity. Here’s how the flow will work:
Phase 1: Matching
You begin by tapping “Match Curator.”
An anonymous list will appear, and you can choose a curator to match with.

Phase 2: Submission
When it’s your turn, a strict 24-hour countdown will start.
You must complete and submit your documents within this time. Missing the deadline may move you to a later pool, delaying your progress.
There are 3 submission levels. After completing all required steps, you press Submit, and your status changes to In Review.
Phase 3: Verification Process
This is the last stage - your application will be reviewed carefully.
This process is more than a technical update - it’s a defining milestone before full verification rollout.
