The Ultimate Bitcoin Halving / Runes Thread🧵

Every 4 years the Bitcoin Block Subsidy gets cut in half, also known as the Bitcoin Halving.

Miners will receive half the Bitcoin reward for each block they mine after the halving.

Tonight, the block reward changes from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC at block 840,000.

At block 840,000, Runes goes live. It is estimated to occur at around 9:36pm ET.

Once Runes goes live, people will race to deploy the first runes.

Once block #840000 is mined, interfaces will be able to display the first runes on their websites.

Those first runes which are available to mint will be mintable on Ordinals Wallet.

Not all of the first runes will be mintable. Some may have been pre-runes like RUNESTONE and RSIC.

We will display all of the first 12 Runes on our homepage, with a mint button for those that are mintable.

In order to mint, users will be creating Bitcoin transactions. If your transaction doesn't get mined before the total supply of the RUNE you want mints out you will not get the RUNE. To avoid this, make sure you pay high enough transaction fees! You will want to make sure your transaction gets mined in time!

We DO NOT and CAN NOT guarantee that your transaction gets mined in time – only you can do that by paying a high enough transaction fee.
