🚨SWIFT WATER RESCUES Tucson Fire responded to a swift water rescue at 5:28 p.m. near 1234 W. Ajo Way following this afternoon’s storm. Crews arrived within eight minutes and found eight people stranded at the exit of a concrete tunnel in the Santa Cruz River. Three individuals had already been swept away before firefighters arrived and two were pulled out with throw bags. The remaining eight were rescued using a ground ladder and rescue ring. Firefighters searched both sides of the river from the rescue location to Silverlake Road, while downstream spotters were positioned at Silverlake and the Santa Cruz River to assist in the search for the missing person. The search concluded without locating the missing individual. A second swift water rescue was at 3759 West Commerce Drive One patient was transported to a local hospital. DPS Ranger 1 also assisted from the air. The storm kept Tucson Fire crews busy throughout the evening, resulting in:  • 2 swift water rescues • 14 downed power line incidents • 4 arcing power line calls ‼️REMINDER‼️ Never enter or attempt to cross flooded washes, rivers, tunnels, or roadways. Fast-moving water can be deeper and stronger than it appears, and conditions can change within seconds.
